You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

When I go to a public library or a magazine section of a major bookstore, I usually browse through weekly issues of "Variety" magazine which focuses on the business side of show business, such as movie studio productions under consideration and movie ticket box office sales, television programming and network executive personnel data, celebrity casting news, and obituaries in the entertainment world. The slang terms alone make an interesting read.

There is always a thick annual issue of Variety printed in time for the NATPE convention (National Association of Television Program Executives) in January in which tv station representatives would purchase television programs for their upcoming schedules...either first-run new programming or reruns of network shows on an "off-network"( or "syndicated") basis, paying for the programs with cash generated from commercial ad time or barter as in buying other shows from the same distributor at discounts. If the shows bought would generate high ratings from viewers and advertisers, the tv station has an option to renew the shows for additional seasons...or face a bidding war from competing tv stations in the same city ("market") for the rights to carry the shows. Those NATPE issues of Variety feature many promotional ads from the tv show studios and distributors for their series to sell to tv stations from game shows to talk shows to informational shows to classic and recent reruns of popular shows...and yes, cartoon series. The convention booths for each studio/distributor may have celebrity stars and executives promoting their programs for sale.

For those fans not in the tv business and who may not understand the blurbs about ratings shares, "cash or barter" deals, and attracting demographics of audiences, those NATPE convention issues serve as a great sneak preview of possible tv shows airing in one's city in upcoming season schedules.

Just curious if anyone attended a NATPE con or worked in a tv station and know about NATPE?

For the record, I do not work for a tv station or in the entertainment business...but the topic of buying tv shows for a tv station programming schedule is fascinating.
