You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

As one-third of the singing/songwriting/sister combo The Roches, Maggie was the eldest, contributing an uncannily rich contralto to the higher pitches of her siblings Terre and Suzzy. Their self-titled debut hit stores in 1979 (prod.: Robert Fripp) and established a fan-core that would sustain The Roches through MTV, the demise of FM radio, MP3s, and social media. The sisters, though tight as a combo, possessed very distinct personalities, rather like a Folk City Charlie's Angels. Maggie was the trio's cup of Earl Grey; Terre, the Irish coffee; and Suzzy, the Sprite. Their Christmas shows were a NYC staple and it was backstage at The Bottom Line (also RIP) that I got to meet Maggie and was introduced to her (former) bf: singer/songwriter Marc Jonson (he wrote "Love Radiates Around," the opening track to the Roches' album Another World). I would interview MJ for a local music zine and that would be the start of my career as a music journalist, during which I would write a slew of reviews and profiles, and make friends who are my friends to this day, which includes Mr. Jonson. That all began with Maggie Roche, who passed Jan. 21 after a prolonged battle with breast cancer, and now I have to stop, because this is sadder than I can bear. My most heartfelt condolences to Terre and Suzzy and the whole Roche family and—if you have any Roches in your collection—well, give it a spin.

Here are two versions of The Roches' appearance in WB's Tiny Toons; the one pictured is the abridged, music-only version. Their personalities come through here. Note how in the full-length version, Maggie is the older sister ostensibly in charge… somewhat against her will.

I remember I was forever reading about them in issues of Hit Parader, Creem, and Circus. I never bought anything by them, nor heard them on the radio, but reading about them and looking at their pictures was enough.
