Here is a little animation I created back in 1996 when I was working for IVID Communications in San Diego, CA. Just for fun! Of course everyone was working on early PC clones that would be brought to their knees more often than not when frame rendering was underway. We had Studio Max and 3D Studio Max, but the huge drawback at this time (1996) was animation software that didn't offer real-time frame rendering. So you had to make all your timeline and character cues flying sort of blind. Only when the rendering was complete (sometimes overnight!) could you see the results of your animation choices. Usually this meant having to fine-tune the crap you forgot or adjusting the timeline/cue/event parmeters ad infintum, etc... IVID developed large CD-Rom based multi-media training programs for Fortune 500 clients like Ford Canada, Jaguar, Robinson May, and the U.S. Government.

Anyway, this was a little exercise in MacroMind Director utilizing a scanned animation cel image from the intro to the 1960's sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie". I took the one image and just replicated it across the stage while flipping the it from left to right, etc. The bell chimes are a real early PC wav file used for alerts and what not. I kid you not it took my network assisted desktop clone 3.5 days to successfully render this little clip complete. The intro and outro credits were created in Windows Movie Maker. Enjoy!
